Overview
Not every business calls a piece of work a "Project". Beeswax lets you rename the Project concept so the whole app speaks the language of your industry — a law firm can call them Matters, a trades business Jobs, an agency Campaigns. You can also rename Quotes to Estimates if that is the word your industry uses.
This is a display-only change. It updates the words you see — menus, buttons, page titles, breadcrumbs — but nothing about how the feature works. Your data, links, reports and web addresses stay exactly the same, so you can rename freely and switch back at any time.
Where to find it
Open Account Settings for your own business and find the Terminology card (it sits next to Project Statuses). Click the ⋯ menu on the card and choose Edit Terminology.
The card always shows what your Projects and Quotes are currently called, so you can see the setting at a glance:
- Projects are called — the plural name used in menus, buttons and page titles
- A single one is a — the singular name used for things like the "New Project" button
- Quotes are called — either Quotes (the default) or Estimates
Note: Account Settings is available to Account Owners and Super Admins.
Choosing a name
In the Edit Terminology window, choose the name that fits your industry from the Industry Preset dropdown — it sets both the singular and plural for you (e.g. Job / Jobs).

Tips:
- Always set both the singular and the plural. Beeswax uses the singular for buttons like New Job and the plural for the Jobs menu, so they need to match.
- Each name can be up to 30 characters.
- The name is used exactly as you type it, so mind your capitalisation (e.g. Work Order, not work order).
Renaming Quotes
Below the Project fields, the Quotes are called dropdown lets you choose between Quotes (the default) and Estimates. This is a simple either/or choice — there are no free-text fields for Quotes.
Unlike the Project rename, the Quote term also appears on the documents you send to clients: the heading on the quote PDF and the delivery email will say Estimate instead of Quote.
What changes
Wherever Beeswax would normally say Project or Projects, it now shows your term instead — throughout the app and in the emails it sends. That includes the work menu, page titles and breadcrumbs, the Projects list and project switcher, the New Project button, the project pickers on tasks, invoices, expenses and time entries, dashboard labels, the activity feed, quick search, notification and PDF‑delivery emails, project documents and file‑storage labels, and the Project Statuses heading.
The Quote term works the same way — the Quotes page, dashboard widgets, reports, the activity feed and quick search all follow it — and it additionally changes the heading on the quote PDF itself and the email that delivers it, since that document carries your chosen word to your clients.
What does not change
The rename is cosmetic, so a few things intentionally keep the original wording:
- Your data — projects, tasks, invoices and reports are untouched; only the label changes.
- Web addresses (URLs) — links still use
/projects, so existing bookmarks keep working. - Your public Beeswax Showcase / portfolio, which has its own separate idea of "projects".
- These help articles and the Beeswax mobile app, which continue to refer to "Projects".
- CSV exports and external integrations.
Switching back
To return to the standard wording, open Edit Terminology and pick Projects — Default from the Industry Preset dropdown, then save. For Quotes, simply pick Quotes in the dropdown again.
One term per business
Terminology is set per business. If you run more than one business in Beeswax, each can use its own wording — and everyone working in that business sees the same term.
